My dog Sadie is way better at yoga than I'll ever be.
I console myself that I could probably kick her ass in a marathon, especially in this weather, because she's always wearing a black fur coat.
I realized Sadie ruled at yoga yesterday when I saw her seamlessly execute a
Downward Facing Dog pose. (Specifically, in her case, the Downward Facing Beagle.)
She let her head hang loose. She sent hips soaring to the ceiling. She extended her paws far in front of her snout.
It was humbling. I just can't compete with that kind of form. But it's not really fair because the pose is
named after her kind.
The Sadie Workout: Run through leaves. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat...But I also realized Sadie is a model of health in many ways, if you pay attention. Here is a list:
She loves to run.
She takes naps throughout the day.
She runs around and wrestles with her fellow beagle playmate, Lucy.
She doesn't have a problem leaving food in her doggy dish, unless she really is hungry.
She's always up for a walk.
She listens way more than she talks.
She literally laps up water.
She pulls on the leash (good for strength training).
She knows when it's best to rest (she plops down on the grass).
Then there's the old adage that owners tend to be a reflection of their pets. Take care of your dog, and you take care of yourself. Thanks, Sadie.
