About this blog
Don't feel sorry for MKE copy editor Dave Lee, whose childhood years were deeply affected by Atari, comic books and "Star Trek." He likes to think he's grown out of it now, but his repressed geeky side still rages within – kind of like the Hulk. But he's accepted who he is and wants to show everybody that geek can be chic.

Intern@Heart

Are you ever too old to be an intern? I'm about to find out.

About a month ago, I was looking for a writing job on behalf of my friend in La Crosse who's planning to move to Milwaukee later this year. That's when I came across a 10-week blogging internship offered by GotGame, a social networking site for gamers.

So I applied. I thought it would be cool to write a blog that targets a narrower audience, and I can't really afford a lavish vacation this summer, anyway. And since I've covered E3 and even scored an interview with Sushi-X, I thought I had enough videogame writing under my belt. But who would want to hire a 33-year-old intern?

After a 30-minute phone interview and a writing assignment over the weekend, I was offered the internship. I'll be doing the internship remotely, so I don't have to pack my bags for San Francisco. And I won't be bothered by menial tasks, like brewing coffee.

The Geek@Heart blog will continue. I know you were all worried about that.
